Veteran Lineman Melvin Hollins Returns to Rouxgaroux

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Another offseason week is in the books, Head Coach Shaw signed four players this week, including a major piece for Louisiana's offensive line: five-year veteran Melvin Hollins. In addition, the Roux re-signed local receiver Jamarsha Huglon, who enters his second season with Louisiana after a successful college career at ULM. This week, the Rouxgaroux welcome two rookies to the roster: OL DeJohn Jones and WR I'Mere Moten. See ROUX WEEKLY forplayer signings.

OL | Melvin Hollins - Jackson State (6'2, 315)
In five seasons, Hollins has made a name for himself in arena football. In 2022, he anchored a National Arena League offensive line all the way to a championship victory, with the 9-4 Albany Empire defeating the Carolina Cobras 47-20. That season, he also earned Second-Team All-NAL Center honors. Known for playing on both sides of the ball, he racked up nine tackles, one fumble recovery, and one pass deflection. Hollins also played as an ironman lineman for the West Texas Warbirds in 2023. A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Hollins finished his college career playing offensive line for Jackson State, where he appeared in 12 games his senior year. Prior to JSU, he played for Jones College (NJCAA) in Ellisville, Mississippi, where the team finished undefeated in their conference and 8-2 overall.

WR/KR | Jarmarsha Huglon - Louisville (5'10, 175)
Huglon returns to the Rouxgaroux after his rookie season in the NAL with Louisiana. In his debut season, he snagged six receptions for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Huglon played a big role on special teams, serving as a rookie kick returner who successfully returned 17 kicks for 385 yards. He even returned a kick for a touchdown against the Omaha Beef in his first game with the Louisiana Rouxgaroux.

Rookie Signings:
The Rouxgaroux signed a couple of rookies this week, including offensive lineman Dejohn Jones, who played collegiately for Prairie View A&M University and earlier in his college career for Western Illinois. The Rouxgaroux also signed local wide receiver I'mere Moten, who played for Southwood High School in Shreveport, Louisiana
