Jermaine Hampton Joins Shreveport Rouxgaroux

Shreveport, LA - 08/9/2024 – The Shreveport Rouxgaroux are thrilled to announce the addition of Jermaine Hampton as the team’s new Defensive Coordinator. Hampton, a seasoned professional with an illustrious playing and coaching career, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Rouxgaroux coaching staff.

Hampton’s football journey began at Northern Illinois University, where he earned a football scholarship and quickly established himself as a standout Strong Safety. His remarkable performances earned him multiple accolades, including Defensive Player of the Week and 1st Team All-MAC honors. Hampton’s skills and leadership on the field also led to his nomination for the prestigious Jim Thorpe Award.

After college, Hampton’s determination and talent earned him a place with the Indianapolis Colts, where he rose through the ranks to become a starter on Special Teams and the 2nd string Strong Safety. Unfortunately, his promising career with the Colts was cut short due to injury. However, Hampton’s passion for football never wavered, and he returned to the field with the Rockford Raptors and the Chicago Slaughter in the Indoor Football League, where he played a pivotal role in leading his team to a Continental Indoor Football League Championship.

Hampton’s transition from player to coach has been equally impressive. He has coached at various levels, including the Division III level for the Midwestern Preparatory Academy and Rockford University. Most recently, Hampton served as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Iowa Barnstormers, where his defense ranked among the top 5 in the league and helped lead the team to the 2022 playoffs.

The Shreveport Rouxgaroux are excited to welcome Jermaine Hampton to the team. His extensive experience, both on and off the field, will be invaluable as the Rouxgaroux prepare for their upcoming season. Fans can look forward to a dynamic and disciplined defense under Hampton’s leadership.
